Final Day–Caversham Park and Chocolate factory

Ok here we are on the final day of my wild flower tour guiding and since we had covered most of the flower possibilities of the state, we decided to head on over to Caversham Wildlife Park in Whiteman Park.  Whiteman Park is a national park and is known to have flowers as well.  Convenient isn’t it?

HOLY GRAIL GET!!! Knuckles Chaotix!!

OMG! I finally bagged one of these bad boys!  I have been eyeing these off for years now…  Not entirely sure how many, not as many as my fairly active search for Castlevania; Symphony of the Night for the Saturn (5 years for those playing at home), but definitely second.

Well, something tells me its not entirely finished.

Oh Man! Look at that.  Seeeeeeexxxxyyyy!!  It’s the Japanese version of Knuckles Chaotix.   I notice the Japanese name of the game is just “Chaotix ~ Featuring Knuckles the Echidna.”

I think I may still want the English box as well, but it has lessened somewhat after finding this for a not incredibly ridiculous price.  Oddly this came from France of all places.  The problem with finding 32X games stems from their rarity as the 32X flopped fairly quickly, the boxes are completely cardboard and Chaotix appears to be the one everyone wants.

It plays similarly to Sonic the Hedgehog, but you have a partner tethered to you and you can uses the tether much like a bungee chord to fling your way through the levels.  It introduced the Chaotix characters, such as Mighty the Armadillo, Vector the Crocodile, Charmy the Bee, and my favourite, Espio the Chameleon.  Oh and Heavy and Bomb, who were robots made by Robotnik.  The game play was interesting, but the level design was bland and since it has a theme park ride er, theme, it gave you a random level selector thing.

Having played this on emulators, I will admit that it is not all that “Must play more-ish.”  Mainly die to the lack of bad guys in the levels and the fact that  due to the level design, you just kind of assume you need to go right, and once you can’t go right anymore, it must be up and right.  Very strange.  Hard to describe to be honest.  I suggest some video footage would be the way to go.

The back of the box. Nice little map of the Island you’re on for the game.  In Chunky polygons too!

Included are the stuff from original release.  The cart, holder (made from cardboard), instructions, anket (survey card) and a flier advertising other games.  Oh the memories!

Overall I am really impressed with this buy.  A good price and it means a heck of a lot to me to get one.  FINALLY!

Not that I am likely to get my 32X running… assuming it would work…  But hey, I did just boot up my Saturn fro some Sega Rally earlier today, so you never know what might happen…

Sonic CD Soundtrack review

Sncdhd

Oh hoo hooo hooo!  I nabbed this off of Amazon Japan since I have been all a flutter over the spiky blue blur as of late.  When it arrived in the post, I stopped and thought, “Why did I buy this?”  You see, I already have the Mega CD game, and since the mega CD just used normal audio tracks for most of the music, one can get the soundtrack by playing them straight off the game disc…

Kings Park and Perthian Adventures

And ramen!
And so with our travels in the country done, we made our way to looking at the sights of Perth and the joys it beholds.  Since it was a flower tour we were conducting, it goes without saying that we had to head off to Kings Park’s Wildflower Festival!

Geraldton, Mullewa and Home. A marathon!

Feeling relaxed and refreshed after a good night’s sleep, we arose early and packed our stuff into the Monster again.  Time to make our way back to Perth.  It was shame that we didn’t plan to spend a couple more days in the country somewhere as this final day felt a bit rushed for me.

Bad guys beware! Batarang controller!!!

Bathead

Man I have been looking forward to Batman: Arkham City for aaaaaaaggggggeeeeesss!  Arkham Asylum was brilliant!  I even started the Hard game mode after finishing it, it was that fun.  Everything from the stealth sections to the awesomely clever free flow combat was fun fun fun!  So when I friend rocked up with this baby, I had to investigate.

Ok, it’s all about gaming today!

Original SNES cart, instructions and box for Chrono Trigger!  Boooyah! Never had a SNES and can’t use, but a nice addition to my set.

Fantasy Zone collection for my Saturn.  Opa-Opa rules! Waku-Waku 7 which I hoope is a quirky but cool Streetfighter-esque game.  I was surprised to find that it came with the 4MB Ram cart as well!  Great!  Another for my collection, I already have about 4, but another can’t really hurt!

And a PS3 Batarang Controller.  Feels nice, with a somewhat 360 ish setup.  I remember thinking the 360 had a good controller for FPS’s so am looking forward to giving it a crank on COD World at War!  Or Fallout 3, Duke Nukem, and any others I come across.  It has nice flashy lights too!  review when I get to it….

Sigh.  Back to packing.

Latest goodies. Little time for fun…

These arrived over the past week.  Sadly though with an imminent moving of abode on the plans, I have very little time to enjoy them.

Firstly we have Sonic Underground DVD box set.  Which is complete.  I never watched Sonic underground, mainly because it looked terribly weird.  Sonic has siblings? And is a Prince of the realm?  In a Band?  How do they come up with these concepts…  I do look forward to watching it though.

Shin Shinobiden (or Shinobi X as it released in the English speaking lands) fro my Sega Saturn.  A L-R shooter, much like all other games of the Shinobi series, but with digitised sprites far the characters.  Much like Mortal Kombat 1, 2 & 3.  Might have been cool in the day (unlikely) but looks a bit naff now, there is something odd about the look of the animation.  A nice addition to my collection for amusement sake.  It has cheesy cut scenes acted out as well. Hilarious!!

GI Hoe Specialist Trakker.  I usually have no interest in GI Joe, but this guy has an interesting history.  Much like the Machine-Men (Gobots) toys of the 80’s making a crossover into the Transformers universe (EG BugBite in the Botcon “Game of Deception” and Fracture, a black repaint of Mirage for the Movie 1 line), Trakker is Matt Trakker, the leader of M.A.S.K.  He used to get around n a sports car which had gull wing doors and it could fly with jets.  He had a mask called Spectrum which could project holograms and fought against the evil V.E.N.O.M and Myles Mayhem (who cameos in the Animated Allspark Almanac).

Hatchet from the Movie 3 Line of Transformers.  A nice ‘dread’ TF.  It’s a small size, erm Commander class I think it is called, but equivalent to scout size in the old scale.  Compact little jet mode, and a cool animalistic robot mode.  Paint it white and you have Sky-Lynx.

Finally, Batman: Arkham City.  After Arkham Asylum, there was no way I was going to miss out on this baby.  I got a steel book edition which has a nice cover.  Absolutely incredible game let down only by the crappy TV i have been playing it when not at home.  OH and the annoying message telling me how to counter blade attacks, which I rarely do successfully, so I just go for the dodge, but the message won’t go away, blocking my view of the battle.  Therefore leading to a slap in the face and the end of my combo run…
